Digital Signage for Museums

Media players for multimedia exhibits, interactive exhibitions and synchronous media stations.

Whether digital exhibits, interactive display cases or room-filling projections – digital signage in the museum brings collections to life and conveys content that a label alone cannot. For this to work reliably in continuous operation, you need a media player for museums that is rugged, quiet, low-maintenance and precisely controllable.

That is exactly what we have been developing the CF Player® for, for more than two decades. It plays video, audio and interactive HTML5 content in up to 4K and 8K, synchronises frame-accurately and responds to touch, buttons, sensors or external signals. Concentrated know-how – engineered in Germany, made in Germany.

Why the CF Player® belongs in the exhibition

What matters most in the museum: continuous operation, silence, controllability.

24/7 operation

Industrial-grade hardware, built for years of low-maintenance operation in the exhibition.

4K & 8K

Crisp playback – up to true 8K for large-format exhibits and projections.

Silent & fanless

No fan noise – so the technology doesn't disturb quiet exhibition rooms.

Frame-accurate sync

Multiple players play back exactly together as a group – for video walls and multi-part scenes.

Auto-start & restore

After power-on the installation starts by itself – no staff, no keyboard required.

Interactive exhibition with touchscreen

Today, visitors want to do more than watch – they want to explore. With a touchscreen in the exhibition they browse image galleries, start videos, choose languages or dive into background information – intuitively and without instructions.

The CF Player® comes with a full HTML5 browser. Interactive menus, timelines and multilingual content are rendered directly on the device – without an external PC. With the built-in touch editor and HTML zone editor you design the user interface yourself and test it beforehand at your desk.

Instead of touch, exhibits can also be operated via physical buttons, rotary encoders or motion sensors – rugged and vandal-proof for public spaces.

DMX and relay control of a multimedia exhibit

Multimedia exhibit: image, sound, light and mechanics from one source

An effective multimedia exhibit combines more than just a screen: on a visitor action, lights should come on, a model should move, sound should kick in – all precisely coordinated.

The CF Player® controls exactly that. Via DMX and Art-Net it conducts the scene lighting, via relays it switches motors and loads, via RS232 and UDP it addresses projectors, displays and third-party devices – in sync with media playback.

This turns player, display and environment into a self-contained, reliably repeatable production. More on our DMX media player page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about digital signage in museums

Which media player is suitable for a museum?

For museums, industrial-grade media players designed for low-maintenance 24/7 operation are recommended. The CF Player® plays video, audio and HTML5 content in up to 4K or 8K, synchronises frame-accurately and can be operated interactively via touch, buttons or sensors.

How are multimedia exhibits controlled interactively?

Via touchscreen, physical buttons on the USB-IO board, motion sensors or external signals. In addition, the CF Player® can control light, sound and mechanics via DMX, Art-Net, relays and RS232 – so the whole installation reacts to a visitor action.

Can several screens be played back in sync?

Yes. Multiple CF Player® play content frame-accurately as a group – ideal for video walls and synchronous projections where image and sound must match exactly.
